Kubernetes turns 6, comes of enterprise age — WalkingTree Technologies

Kubernetes is now officially celebrating its 6th birthday as an open-source project. With a percentage of the IT platforms deployed in production by IT teams, Kubernetes use is comparatively light, even after six years of contributions to the open-source platform. However, it’s arguable Kubernetes really became enterprise-ready just in the last two years.

From an infrastructure perspective, the biggest impact Kubernetes made is the transition to infrastructure (HCI) platforms. Kubernetes assumes an HCI platform that unifies compute, storage, and networking. Developers looking to deploy microservices-based applications based on containers that are orchestrated by Kubernetes are making IT teams to accelerate a transition to HCI platforms, many of which have already begun this year.

HCI is most widely employed by cloud service providers, which makes it easier for DevOps teams to automate Kubernetes clusters. Many internal IT teams are now following suit by adopting frameworks to automate the management of Kubernetes clusters running on HCI platforms.

All the Kubernetes clusters deployed today are in public clouds. However, as Kubernetes becomes easier to manage using automated frameworks, the number of Kubernetes clusters running in on-premises IT environments will increase. to know more about Kubernetes and how it is transforming application development.
